Rolling back the years…

A key priority for many of my clients is to look great for their age. Typically, a fairly big section of them does not want to look dramatically different. In a more subtle way, they just want to look fresher and brighter.  This is where the appropriate and skillful use of dermal filler injections can help!

The idiom ‘age is just a number’ sounds good as long as it doesn’t show on our faces! The reality is that with age progression, the elasticity of our skin gradually deteriorates. Lines start to appear, and we lose volume. Eventually, our faces lose their youthful facade, and we look tired and cross. Indeed, there are several things that we can do to minimize the brunt of aging, such as sticking to a good skincare regime and the regular use of quality SPF creams. However, a noticeable deterioration in the quality and structure of the skin is inevitable, as over time, our skin loses both collagen and elastin which play a crucial role in providing the youthful support and definition to the overall facial structure.

No wonder why the most frequent question I am asked in my aesthetic practice is, “Can dermal fillers help with this inevitable deterioration?”

When answering it is important to look at dermal fillers and their role in reversing the signs of ageing.

WHAT ARE DERMAL FILLERS?

Dermal fillers are small injections of gel, mostly comprising hyaluronic acid, which can be effectively used to smooth out lines and wrinkles, replace lost volume, restore elasticity and tone, and, most importantly, create a natural look and feel. Hyaluronic acid – a naturally occurring substance in the human body – is a strong moisturizing element that has the ability to retain water like a sponge — absorbing more than 1,000 times its weight. Playing a crucial role in skin moisture, Hyaluronic acid helps to attract and retain water within the tissues, thus hydrating your skin and creating a ‘cushion’ to add volume and definition to the skin.

DERMAL FILLERS

As our skin ages and is incessantly exposed to environmental pollutants and ultraviolet rays, it gradually loses the ability to produce hyaluronic acid. It starts to become drier, thinner, and less able to repair itself. This is when the dreaded wrinkles and lines start to appear and taunt us upon looking in the mirror every morning.

Dermal fillers injection procedure involves injecting a gel that mimics your own naturally occurring hyaluronic acid through a tiny needle into the skin to combat common signs of age. As a matter of fact, if there’s one ingredient that puts you on the fast track to hydrated and more youthful skin, hyaluronic acid is it. Not only does hyaluronic acid work wonders when it comes to moisturizing the skin, it has an anti-aging effect as well because plump, hydrated skin makes fine lines and wrinkles less visible.

Giving you absolutely natural looking results, the good news is that dermal fillers can be used in different areas of our faces: around the eye, cheeks, jawline, corners of the mouth, as well as the lips.

The injection of dermal fillers is a virtually painless procedure. You may feel a slight discomfort whilst the filler is being injected but this can be diminished by applying a topical anaesthetic cream before treatment. Depending on how your body reacts and which hyaluronic acid is used, most dermal fillers tend to last between 6 to 12 months.

What is the difference between Botox® and Dermal Fillers?

There is a significant difference between Botox® and dermal fillers. Botox® stops the small muscles in your face from making the movements that cause the facial lines and wrinkles, whilst dermal fillers restore lost volume and help to sculpt youthful looking contours and definition.

The different strategies make them work well together when they are combined. If done under expert hands, using both is an excellent way to reverse wrinkles at the highest level.

Everyone admires smooth, youthful skin. But as you get older, the changes that come with age can leave your skin dull and wrinkled. When your skin doesn’t look its best, your self-esteem can suffer. Dermal fillers have become a global `go-to` option for those seeking facial rejuvenation due to their exceptional ability to reverse the visible signs of age without any recovery time required.

Are you beginning to suffer from volume loss and fine lines and wrinkles? Are you interested in a quick and effective all-facial rejuvenation? We`ve got you covered.
